It’s a pretty accurate representation of how often I use this…2 weeks ago • 1 note
Anonymous asked: Hi Jeff! I understand you used to intern for Conan and currently work for the Pete Holmes Show--I wanted to know if you could possibly share some of your experiences as an intern and what kind of tasks you had to complete, as well as what helped you land your internship? You're definitely a personal hero of mine and I aspire to find myself in a position similar to yours one day!
Woah, this is so nice! Thank you! I ended up getting my Conan internship through a really odd string of events that ended with me on the WB lot with my girlfriend while she was getting lunch with her old boss. I knew Conan shot on the lot, so I walked into the building, got the # for the office coordinator, called, and got an interview. I’m not saying it’s as easy as calling or just walking in to the office, but I got lucky in that sense. They have a lot of interns, so they are definitely looking, although it helps to know someone who can pass along your info.
While I was there it was honestly anything and everything. Going on off lot runs, picking up lunch for people, answering phones, making copies, covering desks…my 2 favorite things to do were 1. working the talent entrance aka saying hi to celebrities when they showed up and 2. catching cue cards, so during the mono the cue card guy would hand me the card after conan had read it and stood to the side and help on to them. The WEIRDEST thing I had to do was be a guinea pig for a costume they were working on for a Ghost Human Centipede. I went to the wardrobe dept with another intern and we got on our hands and knees, they put the costume on us and then had us crawl around to see how it looked. Absolutely insane, but I love that I had to do something so crazy.
Overall, I loved interning there. It was a fast paced environment, every day you were working towards the same goal of putting on a great show, then the next day you did it all over again. Everyone there is GREAT, and keeping in touch with them and working hard is how I got hooked up with The Pete Holmes Show. Which is ALSO a group of amazing people. I definitely consider myself very lucky to get to work in the world of late night, and I hope I can stay in this world for a long time.1 month ago • 7 notes
